Note Card System
Use either 3x5 or 4x6 cards
Write one note on each card so you can shuffle and reshuffle the cards as you experiment with the organization. Types of notes: Notes that summarize: a summary condenses information, and should be written in your own words Notes that paraphrase: retells the information in your own words and should be written in your own words Direct quotations: the exact words from your source, use quotation marks to identify direct quotes (Reserve for special purposes to use writer's expressive wording, to explain complex material or have a primary source speak for himself) Source cards: should include all information that will be needed for the bibliography (including an annotation) Put the last name of the author of your source in the upper right hand corner of your card so you can match it to the source |

Download and install Evernote (Its Free)
Download and install Evernote Web Clipper (Also Free) Create a notebook for your project Start creating notes in your notebook Give each note a "tag" so you can sort through your research at any time Share your notebook with your teacher and/or another student Use Evernote Web Clipper to clip portions of a webpage or the entire webpage (Add it to the correct notebook & use your "tags") Example: Research Project on the Little Rock Nine Notebook titled "Little Rock Nine" Collect information on separate notes using tags such as: "Students", "Community Reaction", "Court cases", "Bibliography", etc. Remember: You can download Evernote on all of your mobile devices |
